thoughts on the hard parts of motherhood

“Making the decision to have a child - It's momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.”- Elizabeth Stone

You've read this quote before, no?
Lord, is it true.

Motherhood is so many things.

Amazing, rewarding, hard, fun...
and scary

The easy part is what you can do, what you have control of.
For the most part you can decide what your child will eat, what they will watch on TV, and who they will hang out with.

BUT,

The really hard part, the scary parts, are the things that are beyond your control because God has given each and every one of us {including our children} the gift and responsibility of making our own choices.

It dawned on me today that we really can only do so much. You can teach your child, you can lead by example, and you can pray that you and life have given them the tools to make the right choices.

All we can do is our best. Show them how it's done, discipline them when they need it, and give them all we've got.

The rest is up to them. And God.

Here's to wishin' I could bottle this innocence up:
