thrifty finds

Yesterday we went thrifting with my friend Brenna. Unfortunately, our first stop was a dud. We both left empty handed. We were sad. But, we kept on trucking and hit up Goodwill next. We both had a lot more luck there!

First I found this "Men's" restroom sign {$1.99}. I wasn't sure about it when I first picked it up, but then after a little thought I decided it would be cute for our guest bathroom which mainly serves as Morgan's bathroom, thus the "Men's" would be appropriate.

After wiping it down I hung it above the door because we're renters and I didn't think they would be too thrilled with me putting nails in the doors. I really like it. {The "7" on the door is for the month of our wedding and the month Morgan was born in. It's free handed with a sharpie on burlap and in an embroidery hoop}.

Then, I found this *pink* Kitchen Aid salad spinner for $4.99! Such a steal! They retail for $40-60 online! This will definitely come in handy this summer.

Brenna spotted these pencil bookends first and I tried to hide my enthusiasm in case she really wanted them. But, once she decided that she didn't want them I scooped those babies up! Aren't they ridiculously cute? And only $1.99 for the pair!

My final little goody was this picnic basket {$3.99} and thermos {$1.99}. We went on a lot of picnics last summer and I can't wait to do it again this summer. These will be perfect.

Ahh, finding fun thrifty finds is such a high!

my happy

1. The couple of days of spring like weather we had this week. My only request mother nature? Please keep days like those coming. I swear someone should bottle fresh spring air and sell that shit like Prozac. It really lifts my mood that much.  2. Dinner on the grill. Portobella burgers, anyone?  3. Naked baby squeals. Ahh, man do I love my little nudist.  4. That feeling of accomplishment after finishing a Couch-to-5k workout.  5. Smarty pants playing Monkey Preschool Lunchbox.  6. Chair dancing in the high chair.  7. Country music on all day long.  8. Sleeping babies.  9. Freshly baked banana bread. 10. Fridays with my boy. A whole day to do whatever we want. We're thinking some thrifting today. Why not?

Happy Friday!

Thank you Chile...

...for the yummy berries!

They made a delicious breakfast.

What are these funny looking black ones, mom?

Mama's sick little boy with his runny nose :(

Let's face it, the kid could eat bugs and make it look cute to me!
{and given the chance, he probably would}

grey skies, snow promised

As I write this morning, I sit on the couch in my comfy clothes having not yet showered, the baby's napping in the next room, and the sky is grey outside my window. It's quiet.

Snow is in the forecast. I usually hate the snow. I dread it. But, today I say bring it on.

I have nowhere to be. Nothing to do.  What better way to spend my afternoon and evening than cuddled up on my warm couch watching the snow fall?

So, mother nature, I'm in. Bring it.

Just brushin' my teeth in the bathtub with my faux-hawk...

what? You don't do that?

...probably don't poop on the couch after your bath either, do ya?
Yea, that really happened.

Just keepin' em on their toes!

sproutin' sprouts

I started my little mason jar sprout garden a couple of days ago...

What I used:

Mung Beans and Broccoli sprout seeds {both bought at the health food store}
2 mason jars
rubber bands
cloth to cover

What I did:

Added 1/4 cup of each in the bottom of the jar.
Covered with water.
Covered jar with cloth and rubber band.

What's next?

You have to rinse them twice a day.
And you sit and wait.
I should have sandwich and stir fry ready sprouts in a couple of days.

Interested?

Read this
and this.

I'll report back.
