thrifting withdrawals

I haven't been going as much lately for whatever reason.
Maybe Goodwill twice in the past 3 weeks?
Oh the shame!

I'm itching to go hit up all the other little thrift stores I've been neglecting,
so that might just happen tomorrow.

Until then, I forgot to post about a really cool thrifty find.
I found this trunk at Goodwill a month or so ago for $6.99.
I love the greenish blue color and the pewter accents.
It's a little dingy and has seen better days, but after giving it quite the scrub down, I'm okay with it's "I've been around the block" look for now.

It's sitting at the foot of our bed and holds all my extra decor
(candles, books, blocks, pictures)...because I like to switch things out...a lot.

bad angle...wall got in the way

memorial day

We did the cook out thing yesterday with my parents.

Today, Frank had to work and I have to work tonight,
so we're just having a low key Memorial Day today...
and keeping all the men and women who have served or are serving our country in our thoughts.

Morgan and I started the day with a walk with our friend Brenna.

Morgan helped me make fresh squeezed lemonade. Which we enjoyed together, and then I enjoyed quietly on the balcony while he napped later.

We went to the flea market at the fairgrounds. Everyone was starting to pack up and Morgan decided to have a toddler meltdown, so that trip was a short one.

Then, we went to the park and played on the playground. And rode the train. And the merry go round.

Frank has to have a snack anywhere we go...

Eating? the flower he picked

His face as the train started to move...priceless

Spotting "dada"

Then, the rain drops started falling so we headed back home, and made chocolate chip cookies while the rain dropped down on the skylight above us. Morgan helped, but mostly he just performed quality control on the chocolate chips. He's good at that.

Another good day for the books ( :

(Although I think I'd like a do over for obvious reasons)

water fun

Today was a hot one at 90ish degrees. But there was a nice breeze too, making it the perfect day for a little outdoor fun. So, we headed to a park in Oshkosh to play in the free little water park (complete with sprinklers, fountains, spraying fishies, and water shooting out of the ground). It was so much fun and Morgan loved it. The face and squeals of excitement that came from him made us laugh out loud. We will definitely be doing this a lot this summer, and next time I'm bringing a change of clothes so I can join in a little more on the water fun!

Ahh, summer, we're going to get along just fine!

the day the circus came to town

Today we went to Morgan's first ever circus.
It certainly wasn't the coolest or biggest circus ever,
but it certainly was pretty cool for a nearly two year old.
And, really, who isn't awed by the majesty of a giant elephant?
Yep, the elephant was my favorite.

Not a bad way to spend a random Tuesday evening.

"ice cream" cones

the other day me and Morgan were out bumming around, and it was hot.
i decided i wanted an ice cream cone. and i wanted to eat it outside.
because isn't that the epitome of summer and warm days?
plus i get ideas in my head and i have to make them a reality. like now.
so Morgan and i swung by the store and picked up 2 little containers of sorbet and waffle cones.
1 lemon and 1 raspberry {a vegan and lactose intolerant's best friend}.
and we ate it outside.
on the balcony.
and it was heaven.
and sticky.
and messy.
but mostly really, really sweet.
just like my boy.

oh, that face! i die.

just resting my cone on the table for a bit. no big deal.

here's to many, many more "ice cream" cones on the balcony...

mother's day

We had another wonderful Mother's Day this year.

We started it off with breakfast with family at my parents house, and ended it with a cookout with friends at our house.

I didn't get too picture happy yesterday, but I did snap a few treasures to remember my second mother's day by.

I didn't realize until uploading these photos today, but a certain little man must have got sticky fingers on my camera lense and left a smudge on it which made the pictures come out with some fuzzy spots. Oh well. I love those sticky fingers to pieces.

Happy Monday and a belated Happy Mother's Day to all!
